An administrative investigation was conducted on Friday following complaints of alleged negligence in the drain construction work being carried out by BUIDCO on Kachari Road and Sonmanki-Gaushala Road within the Khagaria Nagar Parishad area. The inspection, chaired by SDM Dhananjay Kumar, was initiated after repeated complaints and activism by Nagar Sabhapati representative Jyotish Mishra. Executive engineers and officials from the Bridge Corporation, RCD, and Khagaria Nagar Parishad were present during the inspection.

Officials meticulously examined various technical aspects of the construction, including its condition, level, alignment, concrete work, and curing. Jyotish Mishra had raised several technical questions regarding the quality of the construction and its technical processes. During the investigation, it was observed that in many places, the curing was done for only one to two days, instead of the prescribed 14 days as per technical standards. If this is confirmed in the technical investigation, it could adversely affect the strength of the concrete and the long-term quality of the drain.

Questions also arose regarding the concrete vibration process during the inspection. Jyotish Mishra alleged that the vibrating machine was not properly used at several locations during construction, leading to a porous, hole-like condition in various parts of the drain. He further accused junior and assistant engineers of BUIDCO and the contractor of collusion, resulting in construction negligence. However, these allegations have not been independently verified. Mishra has demanded that if technical irregularities are proven in the investigation, accountability should be fixed for the concerned engineers and the contractor.
