A team from the Vigilance Department conducted a raid at the Supaul District Transport Office (DTO) on Thursday, arresting data entry operator Nandlal Kumar red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000. Kumar was accused of demanding the bribe to process an application for a Bihar registration number for a vehicle.

The action was initiated following a complaint from Mohammad Azhar Ali, a resident of Madhubani in the Lalitgram police station area. Ali had submitted an application to the DTO office for a Bihar registration number for his vehicle. Allegedly, Nandlal Kumar demanded Rs 15,000 as a bribe to expedite the processing of this application. Unwilling to pay the bribe, Ali lodged a complaint with the Vigilance Department.

DSP Vindhyachal Prasad of the Vigilance Department stated that the complaint was verified, and the allegation of demanding a bribe was found to be true. Following the confirmation, the Vigilance Department planned a trap and formed a team. On Thursday, the team arrived at the DTO office and, as per the plan, arrested Nandlal Kumar red-handed while he was accepting the Rs 15,000 bribe from the complainant. DSP Prasad also mentioned that no other individual was found involved in the immediate action. The Vigilance Department team is now engaged in further legal proceedings following the arrest.
