A woman was stabbed to death and her husband injured when they resisted a robbery attempt in the Gogri police station area of Khagaria district on Saturday night. The incident occurred in Daur Bagicha Jamalpur as the couple was on their way to the Vishahari Mela in search of their son.

The deceased has been identified as Rajina Khatoon, wife of Mohammad Arshad, a resident of Chhoti Maliya. According to Mohammad Arshad, his younger son had gone to the Vishahari Mela around 7-7:30 PM. When he did not return home late, Arshad and his wife went out to look for him. They were traveling by bicycle through an orchard path instead of the main road. Near the orchard and a ditch, three unknown masked assailants surrounded them. The attackers had their faces and heads completely covered, with only their eyes visible, and were armed with sticks and knives.

The robbers demanded money from the couple. Mohammad Arshad attempted to hand over 10-20 rupees and his mobile phone, but the assailants refused the mobile and began assaulting him. They dragged Arshad towards the orchard and beat him with sticks. When Rajina Khatoon intervened to save her husband, the attackers turned on her, stabbing her three times in the abdomen. She was critically injured and died before reaching the hospital. After the attack, the culprits fled, reportedly saying, "Leave her, she's dead."

After the attackers fled, Arshad raised an alarm and informed his family. Relatives arrived within about 10 minutes and took the injured couple to the hospital. Doctors declared Rajina Khatoon dead upon arrival, while Arshad received treatment.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Gogri police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. The police have taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem examination to Khagaria Sadar Hospital. DSP Chandan Kumar Thakur visited the hospital and questioned the victim's husband. According to the DSP, preliminary investigations suggest the incident is linked to a robbery, but other aspects are also being examined. Police are working to identify the unknown assailants and determine the exact motive behind the incident. The incident has created an atmosphere of fear in the area.
